There's nothing cozier than sipping hot cocoa by the tree wrapped in a soft blanket, with a cheesy, romantic Christmas Hallmark movie on in the background. Among the reasons why I decorate early, the main one is being able to enjoy the decor longer! Christmas truly is the best time of the year and there's nothing I love better -- as I write this, there are snow flurries outside and we are snuggled in cozy on the inside!
This year, we wanted to go with a more neutral, elegant theme rather than our red and gold of the last few years. As we all know, decorations can get expensive, so we used all the gold we had in the past and supplemented some silver and white ornaments. We used the same tree we've had for the last 3-4 years--you can't beat the quality for the price (price is $79 and it's 6.5 feet tall, flocked, and pre-lit). It's the perfect tree for smaller spaces or apartment living because it still has a presence, but it doesn't take up too much space. The only little flaw is that I wish it had more lights, but that's not really all that much of a flaw since we can add more light if we really want to. We began with decorating our tree with a little ribbon (we will definitely add a little more next year to make it a little more full!) and then we added the globe ornaments and followed up with the attached flowers and sprigs. We finished it off with the tree topper! For the bookcases, in order to maintain the color scheme and not detract from the decor, we actually hid some of our more colorful books (red, yellow, lime-green, etc.) in the drawers.
Our decor is from a few different places, mainly Home Goods, but we also purchased things from Walmart, Kirkland's, and Target. Because I could not link the Home Goods items, I tried to find similar items through other retailers, namely TJ Maxx, which is already under the same retail umbrella. The idea behind the theme was cozy, white, elegant wonderland--lots of cozy, elegant throw blankets and pillows and sparkle everywhere. If you're looking to add a little elegance to your space, gold and silver paired with ivory, faux fur, and velvet do a great job of giving that high-end feel to any space. Sometimes, it can be hard to decorate an apartment because it's not a personally-customized space and you generally take what you get; however, I think we managed to create a little elegance in our little apartment! It's a cozy space where we can enjoy the holidays and time together!
Catch ya next time! Kisses, Besos, Pupici!
P.S. If you don't have a fireplace in your home, turn on the Netflix fireplace and burn a Woodwick Yankee Candle (which crackles) and it'll give you the same great, cozy vibe!
