One of my and Parker's favorite things to do is visit coffee shops--we love the cozy atmosphere and the aroma floating through the air. There is nothing like working in our favorite coffee shops while sipping on a yummy cup o' joe. We've been to every coffee shop in the Hampton Roads so I thought I'd share the best ones (they are listed in alphabetical order); from ambiance to the yummiest lattes, these are the creme de la creme!
Bad Ass Coffee--this is my go-to whenever we make it to the beach! Though this a franchise, it definitely doesn't feel that way! We've been going here since we moved to Virginia Beach, and I appreciate the laid back atmosphere, especially since it's by the beach. Because it's a "hole-in-the-wall" coffee shop, it's unique from the other shops nearby. They recently started using paper straws which is also a great plus! I've never had any of their sandwiches or wraps, but they have the best pastries (you need to try the banana bread when you stop by)!
Café Stella (Granby location)--first of all, this is the best location! I find myself in downtown Norfolk for shoots, shopping, meetings, etc, so I love that I can count a great cup of coffee when I am in the city. My favorite part about Café Stella is definitely the seating options and atmosphere. I love sitting at the little bar by the window--the lighting is perfection! They also have more seating upstairs if you want to tuck yourself away and work. The food is absolute deliciousness too; there hasn't been one thing I've tried and haven't loved!
Commune--this is my number one whenever anyone visits us in Va Beach! I've been to both locations, but I prefer the Norfolk location (it's bigger and I don't have to wait too long to get seated). THEIR FOOD IS SO, SO DELICIOUS, and a lot of it comes from their own farm in Pungo. Commune is a farm to table brunch/lunch place, but their coffee is so good, it had to make the "Cup o' Joe" list! Out of all the places on this list, Commune is the one I go to most often! My typical order: Burnt Honey Lavender Latte and Southern Rice Bowl. Parker either gets a burger or the fried chicken sandwich, and we get the Hash Tots as an appetizer. Hands down, one of the best places in Hampton Roads.
Cure--this little coffee shop was introduced to me by my girlfriend, Chelsea, and it's a goodie for sure! Not only are their lattes delicious, but they're food is amazing too! My favorite lattes here are the Crazelnut and Vanilla Haze (anything hazelnut for your girl)! Love the industrial feel of this little place--if you find yourself in Ghent, be sure to drop in!
Gather--P and I discovered this coffee shop a few months ago, and it does not disappoint! I love the decor and atmosphere! Grab a seat at the uber cool bar (love the subway tile; it makes for some pretty awesome pictures). They even allowed me to bring Gatsby along on my kitty coffee date (see it here). Their food is delicious, their coffee is even more delicious, and their staff is so friendly and kind! Though it's a bit of a drive from where we live, it's one of my faves because of the cozy factor. Drop by next time you're looking for cozy chic work environment!
Three Ships Coffee--another great option if you're down by the beach--this eclectic coffee shop can sure serve a great cup of coffee (and they also use paper straws) . If you're looking for great ambiance, you definitely need to try Three Ships. It's a great place to work or meet with a friend, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! The outside is a great place for a photo op too!
