I’ve been reading and hearing some negative things lately…and it’s far too easy to be surrounded by negative news, thoughts, and lifestyles. The GREAT NEWS, though, is that we hold a lot of power over our lives. We have the power to change our thoughts, and relationships, and environments for the better, by deciding to change. Perspective is everything, and while the world is not perfect (nor will it ever be) it is so, so important to focus on the positive things in life. The quality of your thoughts, and thus your life, has everything to do with training your mind to be positive.
I’ve written this before—DON’T BE A VICTIM. Don’t be victim to your thoughts. Don’t be a victim to your past. Use it to propel you toward your purpose! Re-focus.
Maybe you had something incredibly hurtful happen to you. Don’t keep talking about the terrible things that happened, constantly reliving the terrible past. Maybe you even do it subconsciously—well, in that case, train yourself to focus on the positive in your present life; focus on your bright future. BE present and mindful in the present; work toward the future you want.
So how does our thinking relate to fashion? I mean, why is a millennial fashionista writing about thought-life? Because what we wear can only get us so far. What we think has far more to do with our long-term well-being than our fashion-choices. In fact, I would go as far to say that our style is affected by our thoughts, just as much as what we wear.
Of course, it’s lovely to wear a lovely evening gown—but do we really feel lovely, if nagging negativity accompanies us to our elegant evening? NOPE—the sad, sad thought-life swallows our precious moments. A bad thought-life is never in fashion, but far too many still wear beautiful, fashionable clothing, while failing to fill their minds with good thinking that complements their great fashion. Instead, they ruminate on everything that is wrong. While reminiscing is ok, if all you constantly talk about are “memories” or “remember whens…,” you are (quite literally) LIVING IN THE PAST.
Does the world fail us? Of course. Are people perfect, or even half-decent? Many times not. But do we choose the majority of environments and perspectives we surround ourselves with? Yes. If not uplifting…Change. Move away. Be the difference.
If you haven’t met any new people, or created any new relationships, it’s time to grow up. GO out, meet new people. Start focusing on people who will build you up with new ideas, who will help you learn new things. If you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong place. Challenge yourself. Get out of your comfort zone. I mean this in the most literal way possible. These are not just mushy, new-agey, impractical concepts. You’ve got to be obsessed with the betterment of yourself and your future.
STOP LIVING IN THE PAST.
STOP FOCUSING ON NEGATIVE NEWS.
STOP DWELLING ON THE WRONGNESS IN THE WORLD.
Listen, at the end of that day, what you think about most is in YOUR hands. Regardless of your sex, regardless of skin color, regardless of your past, regardless of any outside forces, it’s ALL ABOUT YOU. YOU, quite literally, hold the key to your future. You gotta re-focus, so your future can be all you’re looking for.
Now, go dominate! Kisses, Besos, Pupici!
